"Lyngtoften 5, Kastbjerg", the desired destination comes forth

вроде ок, с учетом того что Kastbjerg - это деревня и там нет такого адреса. Находит в соседней деревне.

В Белгородской области есть нп с названием Весёлая Лопань, ищется с бубнами ..

Вот ищу село "карлушка" в алтайском р-ке, в поисковой выдаче - всякая ерунда. Ок, ввожу "карлуша" (т.е.без буквы 'к'), и показывает мне именно карлушку (которая на карте с буквой 'к')

вроде ок, если скачан Алтай. Находит откуда угодно по "карлушка алтай"

"Rue du Fer à Cheval", "Rue Saint-Léger" в Фурке. Все плохой ищется видимо из-за таймаут и приставки rue.

непонятно что такое Фурке, но если что-то из Франции скачано, то работает ок

"Кирова 8 " (с пробелом в конце) дает сначала Дзержинск, потом Жодино дома 8А, потом только Минск (позиция в Минске).

3217 W Yuma St, Phoenix, AZ 85009, United States finds Yuma St, Phoenix, AZ
E.g. our search does not recognize W as West, E as East etc.

UPD: I have a bunch "West Yuma St" results, exact house number is not set in OSM.

I'm having similar issues searching for street addresses - even without N/E/S/W in the name.

To pick a random address, 4761 Forest Hill Rd, Evergreen, CO 80439 is discoverable on openstreetmap.org. But when I type the same search into Organic Map, it only finds the road.

Thoughts?

There is no house address on OpenStreetMap in your case, it also shows the road. All houses in that area do not have any addresses (but you can add them if you know).

It sounds like the Nominatum uses TIGER (US Census mapping) data to associate a house number with an approximate street location, and that the data isn't in OpenStreetMap itself. That would be a great feature to add.

I'm curious what your thoughts are. Managing multiple sources for search results seems complicated, but picking up currently-missing street addresses in the US would make the map much more usable.

Adding addresses to OSM proper would be better, but they're missing for large swaths of the Denver area.

It would be great to motivate people with OSM editing and adding missing buildings/addresses. Probably we can show a link to OSM if the address was not found.

Finding streets from OSM without houses is good enough in many cases, so the search engine should at least support that. Adding Nominatum is … complicated, we would prefer to avoid that at the moment.

Found out that if I search from Raleigh, North Carolina, Organic Maps finds Moses Cone Manor but if I extend 20 miles to the east it does not find it. Both searches showing full map of North Carolina.

UPD: User tried to find by "moses" query
"Moses Cone Manor" is a POI near Charlotte, NC. "Blue Ridge Parkway" is a street there. Definitely, should improve search by name, even if we are far away from a place. Say when position is at NY, have no luck to find this place ..
