Day/night mode does not change during navigation #4246

To reproduce:

Set night mode to Auto.
Start well before sunset.
Calculate a long route (with an arrival time well after sunset).
Depart and watch the screen.
Optionally, repeat for a scenario in which you are on the road during sunrise.

Expected result:

Navigation starts in day mode during daytime, night mode at night. Around sunrise/sunset, the mode changes automatically.

Actual result:

Day/night mode is determined when navigation starts but never changed. If you start at noon and arrive at midnight, OM uses day mode for the entire time. This may be undesirable on long trips (but hardly noticeable on short ones).

Versions used:

OM 2022.12.18-12-FDroid, LineageOS 19 (Android 12)

Additional information:

Not sure how day/night mode is determined (time of day vs. sunrise/sunset times?) – another option might be to use the ambient light sensor (if present). That would allow us to switch to night mode e.g. when in a tunnel.

You mean organicmaps/organicmaps#749 (comment) specifically? That is the issue I am describing here: When set to automatically choose between day and night mode, OM still does not switch between day/night mode during navigation – it chooses the mode when navigation starts and sticks with that. #749 seems to be about a ton of other things and this particular comment seems almost off-topic. Also, #749 is essentially a feature request, whereas I’d consider the behavior I am describing a bug.
