Creating a route with multiple stops needs to be a lot more intuitive. Right now, it is done by using a second search button that is normally not on the map, and this search button appears only after the 'Route to' button has been pressed. This is not easily discoverable and not a simple process.

Problem Statement
It’s not obvious how to add multiple stops to the route, it's not a simple flow to plan a multi-stop route. As the functionality is so buried, it appears as if the app does not support multiple stops. Many people have said that this process in unintuitive or not easy to use.

From map: Today a number of buttons which need to be pressed to complete a workflow, blend in with all the other buttons, and people never notice that a new button appeared on the Place Page, it's really easy to miss that when opening the Place Page for a second POI, the 4 buttons are completely different, and that one of them is "Add Stop". In this context, when the route is already built and second POI is selected, "Route from" and "Route to" are already confusing enough, and without any guidance, people have no idea what to do.

When adding a stop, the "Route from" and "Route to" in this context are likely almost never used, and if so, probably a very narrow use case. It would be helpful to remove the buttons to avoid confusion.

It could be helpful to use color as guides, for example just like the "Start" button is blue, make other buttons blue to guide a person through the steps, for example "Add Stop" button and "Route to" button can be blue.

Criteria
Route Planning page

  • Display all places of the route in the bottom bar (route preview displays on the map after pressing the "Route to" button on the Place Page). Right now the places of a route are in the Manage Route option. This option needs to be removed and list of places should be displayed directly in route planning page modal.
  • To the right of the list of places, add a button + button (for adding a stop), for creating a blank where a place can be searched.
  • Pressing the "+" (Add Stop) button, brings up the search functionality, which displays in split screen mode to show both the search functionality and the map.
  • In the search mode (after pressing the "+" Add Stop button), at the top of modal display a button name "Select from map".
  • Selecting the icon of a stop in the list brings up the Place Page of that POI. The Place Page should have a back button to go back to the route planning without restarting the process.
  • Selecting the name of the stop brings up the search so the stop can be replaced by another place.
  • To the right of each place, add an 'x', for deleting it.
  • Each place on the list can be dragged to change the order of the places.
  • Remove the Search button that appears on the map (left middle of the screen), after the "Route to" button is pressed.
  • Add Routing Options button to route planning screen (where all stops are listed), have a selector options for "Avoid Tolls, Avoid Unpaved Roads, Avoid Ferries, Avoid Freeways," (currently these are only in Setting).

Place Page

  • When there is already at least two places in the route plan and the Place Page is opened for another POI, currently there are 3 buttons: Route from, Add Stop, and Route to. In this context, rename the button
    "Route from" --> "Replace Start"
    "Route to" --> "Replace finish"
