Organic maps currently has smooth "accelerated" panning: You can swipe on the map and it will continue going in that direction for a short while.

However, the zoom stops abruptly as soon as you let go. The same happens to panning when you use the fingers to zoom and pan at the same time.

This makes the navigation around the maps much clunkier and choppier to me compared to Google Maps which I'm migrating from.

To resolve this, I would love to see zooming keep its momentum just like panning with gradual deceleration.

I couldn't find an exact issue addressing this, but I did find these two requests both related to movement around map, so perhaps they should all be considered together in a little movement revamp:

#1235 Jittery movement to locations, e.g. when opening the app, clicking on the current location button, or searching for a place.
#2894 In a way the opposite of what I'm asking for. This request is about adding an option to disable the panning acceleration. To satisfy this request, an option should be added to disable acceleration all around the map movement, so the already existing panning, the here requested zooming, and perhaps the smoothed movement to another location from the issue above.

Edit: Seems like clicking on the compass to rotate upright also doesn't use any acceleration curving. Might need to find all the places where that is the case and come up with a plan how to make it all uniform? (And optimally configurable via at least a toggle as discussed above.)
