GMS returns total crap instead of location. There is absolutely no control
on the source of location returned by FusedLocationClient. It can return
inaccurate (~700 meters) location from the network and mark it as "fused".

I do not understand your motivation.

  1. What is wrong with a fused provider returning a network location?
  2. It is a client's obligation to filter out all locations and choose the best one.
  3. From our past experience, there were many many cases where location with the fused provider was better/faster than without it. That's why a default setting was introduced.
  4. Please check the old (2014-2015) code how it was implemented and do the same. The right approach is to subscribe to ALL available providers and do filtering manually.
