WIP: [android] Compose benchmark using new module structure #5825

Draft
arnaudvergnet wants to merge 8 commits from arnaudvergnet/android-structure-compose into master
arnaudvergnet commented 2023-08-25 20:51:29 +00:00 (Migrated from github.com)

This PR rebases organicmaps/organicmaps#5179 (first 4 commits) on top of organicmaps/organicmaps#5389 (5th commit) so we can experiment with benchmarks.

Macrobenchmarks are stored in modules next to the main app module. It was not possible (at least I could not figure out how) to create benchmarks using the previous non-modular approach.

These macrobenchmarks have 2 uses:

  • The first one is to compare the performance of the app before and after the compose migration.
  • The second one is to help improving first launch performance of Compose by generating a baseline profile. As explains the link, Compose is not a system library like XML views, but is shipped with the app so it needs to be interpreted the first time the app is started. Baseline profile should speed this first launch compilation by about 30%.

For now this PR is only a rebase and does not include the benchmarks. I'll try to work on the benchmarks for now on. I do not have time right now to work on this so any help is appreciated.
