User Journeys
The following are primary and secondary user journeys (common uses cases) that users may use the app for.
This is obviously filtered through my persona bias (OMaps user since January 2023), but given that touch-screen map apps are >= 15 years in widespred use, these are very common UX patterns that are simple and widely understood.
The journeys below are listed in order of perceived importance and regularity of use for many types of users and use cases. Without sufficiently conducted user data, this is somewhat speculative.
Primary User Journeys
- Looking up Places on a map
- Get route directions between two Places
- Discover Places by category (Hotel, Cafes)
Secondary User Journeys
- Bookmarking and re-accessing bookmarked Places
- Recording and viewing saved Traces
- Adding and updating places to OSM
- Updating Settings
- About info, app version, etc...
- Donating
- Following / contributing to OMaps
The users journey's should inform what UI elements and UX interactions are given priority in the app.
